PARFUM

Particulates, Freight and heavy duty vehicles in Urban Environments

Duration:

2006 - 2009

Programme:

LIFE III

Brief Description:

The project addresses the air pollution in urban areas. In the light of the existing and forthcoming air quality directives, cities need to find efficient measures to reduce particulates (PM10/PM2.5) generated by transport. Although information on impacts for many single new "clean" technologies is available, the real-life results in combination with innovative sustainable transport programmes can be quite different. PARFUM seeks to test real-life impacts of technology and policy innovations in the urban transport sector to reduce air pollution. The innovations relate to intelligent urban freight distribution policies and to passenger transport policies both combined with innovative clean propulsion technology.
